Feeling Lazy
I need Amy Popp to tell me to run.
I swear that I am disciplined, but damn is it hard to run according to schedule. It doesn't help that work takes over my whole life so that when I do have time to run I am just wiped out and ready to sleep.
Chris tells me to run... it doesn't work as well because he is not doing the running with me.
I can't even read a book these days.
All I am ever interested in doing during my free time is eating and catching up on sleep. That's not completely true, I do still make time for friends.
Here is a request (because I like to think that you are interested in holding me accountable) why don't you call me or text me or comment on my blog with a little encouraging threat about my running....
Maybe that will work.

I would love to run. I ran in college, but then put on more weight... and ultimately quit. As I have aged (and years of being overweight), I have found that (at this point) I'm not able to run. There are seasons for everything. Don't miss them. And if you decide to run, enjoy it. Enjoy the quietness of hearing your breathing as you run. Enjoy the ache of being tired. Enjoy the cool-down. Enjoy breathing deep. Enjoy the fact that you have life.
I like the idea of an "encouraging threat". Here's my stab at one:
You look like you could use the wind in your face right about now. So you should take a quick run. Or else.
My 53-year-old father finished 3 miles in 32 minutes with me tonight. he was pale and sweaty for an hour and a half afterward. he was coughing and spurting up old man goo from his lungs, god bless him.
if you continue to sit on the couch, this could be you in thirty years.
run or i'll kill you woman.
(i really like paul's encouragement much more than mine)
just think about when you get to the starting line and realize you have to run 26.2 stinkin miles... dont you want to be prepared??????
go to coolrunnings.com. track your mileage. get an ipod and listen to podcasts and run. enjoy the time by yourself accomplishing something that not everyone can do!
eventually your body will adjust and you will fell more energized than tired!
i think that anything that i say here will pale in comparison to what others have said before me.
remember your goal.
running today is no fun, and maybe you don't so much feel like doing it, but i know that you want that marathon. push yourself today, so that you can get to what it is you really want.
Wow! Thanks friends! I should write this stuff on post its and place them all around my apartment. So great!
a friend of mine once told me to "run bitch, run!" it was part of a story she was tellling... but sometimes it still motivates me.
actually i love running. when i say this most people look at me like i'm nuts. but i have become so accustomed to this activity that a day without it feels incomplete. that does not mean it is always fun. some days are just plain hard. but for every bad day there is a good one, and the more consistent i am the more the good ones outnumber the tough ones. it's crazy how that works...
i'm training for a marathon too--maybe one day we'll run one together.
