Do You Still Visit?
Hi guys. Big News! My sister is moving in on Saturday and Jen H. (kind of my old boss) already moved in! All of Amy Popp's stuff is hanging out in the dining room... Jackie officially hates me (and company) and Lydia's room looks almost empty. Leah V. will be moving in on Sept. 5th and life will be changing.
I wish I had a car that ran on diesel (sp) so that I could convert it to used vegetable oil.
Do you think I should get the internet at my house?
I am re-reading the Chronicles of Narnia... it's nice.
I watch the OC or Arrested Development every night... does that make you want to throw up?
I want to discuss tipping... but I don't want to offend you...
So maybe you could just answer this question... do you tip a blanket amount every
time... or do you tip according to the bill total?
None of this means anything.
All the Ladies in the Room... Please Stand Up
Anytime that I read Jessi D.'s social justice blog... I wish that I was her friend and we could speak about these things together.
Here's what I am thinking:
I took a class last quarter that was called Life in Politics. Good class. We talked about the role of women as elected representatives and why it's a good thing to have them participate in the political process. Many of the women in my class agreed that it's nice to have people "like them" and people who were concerned about the same issues, representing them. That sounded all well and good until I really understood the implications there... basically women want women so that they can push "women's issues." I hate that... "women's issues." I mean what issue of mine actually takes on gender? Let me tell you what "women's issues" are...
1.) Passing legislation about lengthened hospital stay after pregnancy.
2.) Reproductive Rights
3.) Family Oriented issues
Ok... so women friends... do we still take on that role? Are these the only things we care about? Do men really not care about their wives, mothers and daughters enough... do they still keep these issues so distant from their platforms.
I understand that many times in our culture you will find women taking up these stances... but when will it be time for men to? I mean... I thought they already cared?
Do you know what I mean? Men have the right to have opinions about abortions... right? They did help create that thing... and what their wives shouldn't make as much money or should be fired for staying at the hospital a couple days after having a child.
Is our nation completely fatherless?
I am going to Cedar Point on Wednesday... because that is the day of my birthday. Sounds like a lot of fun... I think it will be. I got proof today that my mom really does love me...isn't that nice.
Even when I don't Pray...
God is faithful.
Here is an update on this nerve racking (sp) situation... Leah Vincent agreed to move in. Let's all take a moment to jump up and down. My sister is still only half hearted but she is most likely moving labor day weekend. Then last but not least... we have one candidate still working out whether she is staying in Athens this year... she is also trying to sublease the expensive apartment that she already signed for... meaning if she does stay in Athens and does find a subleaser... she will be moving into 159. Everybody pray hard... because I have been forgetting to.
Maybe you could also pray that if and when I talk to my roommates that I wouldn't be the biggest jerk in the whole universe but give them forgiveness and love while still conveying my honest feelings.
Not that I believe in Karma but...
Ok so I know I said no posts... but this is post worthy.
Many of you know my history with renting/leasing. It started out with Colleen and I screwing over Chris and Angie Pyle who later forgave us and still like us. I feel like that one little mistake keeps coming back to me though. After finally convincing Mae and Lyndsey to let us live with them I was gone for the first quarter and Colleen didn't manage to get there until Spring. Ok where it gets worse is here. Colleen and I decided to move into 159 Grosvenor. In our search for housemates and checking out the lease agreement Colleen decided not to live there... it was very hard to find a housemate over the summer. So you would have thought that was all that could really happen... nope it's happened again. Amy is moving (and is helping me fill her spot) and then Lydia and Jackie just went off and signed a different lease. Yes it's almost the end of the summer and yes this makes a couple of people hypocrites. I am very frustrated.
Another thing that always happened was that when I was leading the youth group... each year I would have to find a whole new team of people... am I driving people away?
